Our client James Fenton recently took on the Double Marathon – Race to the Tower – in the Cotswolds to raise money for the Cobalt Charity, one of the leading medical imaging and diagnostic centres who specialise in Cancer and Dementia.

The run is a 52.4-mile double marathon through the heart of the idyllic Cotswolds. Unrelentingly beautiful. Unforgettably challenging!

As James managed to raise more than double his target, hitting over £1500 for the Cobalt Charity, which is incredible and all of us at the Markland Clinic just want to say well done!

His Just Giving page is still open if you would like to donate to this great cause. Click here: www.justgiving.com/fundraising/james-fenton7

This race was part of the award-winning Threshold Trail Series.

As James managed to complete the course in an impressive time of 12h 41m averaging 14 min per mile.

James was running the race to raise funds and awareness of the Cobalt Charity

Cobalt is a medical charity helping people affected by cancer, dementia and other conditions. They believe everyone should have access to the best medical imaging for their diagnosis. They invest in equipment, research and education. Each year they provide diagnostic imaging for over 65,000 patients at Cobalt Imaging Centre in Cheltenham, the ITM Imaging Centre in Birmingham and with a fleet of six mobile MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) scanners that travel throughout the UK.   As well as cancer, the equipment is able to assist in the detection of illnesses such as dementia including Alzheimer’s.  They offer free training and education courses on a local, national and international basis for doctors and healthcare professionals, ensuring their experience and research work is widely shared.

Donations received help fund scanning and diagnosis, research, prevention, specialised nursing posts and cancer facilities for local people.

The charity is close to James’ heart as his wife went through breast cancer and the charity was an amazing source of help and support.

If you’re thinking of raising money for charity through running, swimming or any kind of physical activity we can’t stress enough the importance of preparation.
